E-Library

A national program to establish, deploy and sustain digital library (e-library) services in Papua New Guinea schools and Provincial libraries. The plan aligns with the DELOS Digital Library Reference Model (architecture, content, services), the IFLA–UNESCO School Library Manifesto (educational mission and service model), the PNG Digital Government Plan (digital infrastructure, data governance, service standards), and the National Library and Archives Act 1993 (institutional responsibilities and legal framework).

Currently the Office of Library and Archives is the mandated government agency to roll-out and oversee the implementation of e-library service in PNG. With the initial setup in the National Public Library, this e-library setup has over a hundred e-books stored in its system, were as it can cater up to more than a thousand e-resources.

There are e-library criteria to meet in order to have a setup to be installed in your school or province.  Fill in the enquiry online form below for more details.

The Minister for Education – Hon. Lucas Dewa Dekena. MP, OLA Director General – Mr Dennis Bagelo and the BSP Community Project Fund Manager – Mr Peter Benswick did the honors of offically opening the e-library setup at the National Public Library on 10th May, 2024.
