Provincial Services

The Office of Library and Archives (OLA) extends its services beyond the national level through a network of Provincial Libraries and Archives Centres across Papua New Guinea. These centres play a vital role in promoting literacy, preserving local records, and ensuring that information and knowledge are accessible to communities throughout the country.

Our  Provincial Services are;

  1. Public Library Support
    Assisting provincial administrations in establishing, managing, and improving public library facilities to promote reading, learning, and information access.
  2. Records and Archives Management
    Providing guidance and technical support to provincial offices in organizing, storing, and preserving their administrative records and local archives.
  3. Capacity Building and Training
    Conducting workshops and training programs for provincial librarians, records officers, and information managers to strengthen local capacity.
  4. Community Outreach
    Promoting literacy and awareness of library and archives services through outreach activities, reading programs, and cultural events.
  5. Partnership Development
    Working in collaboration with provincial governments, schools, and community organizations to improve information infrastructure and public access to knowledge resources.

OLA is committed to fostering an informed, literate, and knowledge-based society by ensuring that quality library and archival services reach every province and community in Papua New Guinea.
