Library Training

The Office of Library and Archives (OLA) provides Library Training programs to strengthen the skills and knowledge of library professionals and support staff across Papua New Guinea. Through these programs, OLA aims to build the capacity of libraries to deliver effective, modern, and community-focused information services.

Our Key Library Training Programs Include:

  1. Library Management and Operations
    Training on cataloguing, classification, circulation, and collection management to improve daily library operations and service delivery.
  2. Information Literacy and User Services
    Guidance on helping users access, evaluate, and effectively use information resources for study, research, and decision-making.
  3. ICT and Digital Library Skills
    Introducing digital tools and systems for managing online catalogues, e-resources, and digital collections.
  4. Community Outreach and Reading Programs
    Training on promoting reading culture and developing outreach activities that connect libraries with schools and communities.
  5. Professional Development Workshops
    Regular seminars and workshops for librarians and library officers to share knowledge, best practices, and emerging trends in information management.
