Reference and Information Services
The Office of Library and Archives (OLA) provides Reference and Information Services to support researchers, students, government officers, and the general public in accessing reliable information and archival resources. Our goal is to make Papua New Guinea’s documentary and knowledge heritage accessible, understandable, and useful for study, decision-making, and cultural appreciation.
Our Reference and Information Services are;
- Research Assistance
Professional support for locating, identifying, and using archival and library materials relevant to your research or information needs. - Reading Room Services
Access to the National Archives and Library reading rooms, where users can view public records, manuscripts, books, and other reference materials under supervised conditions. - Information Requests
Responding to enquiries received in person, by email, or online about government records, library holdings, or general information on Papua New Guinea’s history and governance. - Bibliographic and Cataloguing Support
Guidance on searching the OLA’s catalogues, databases, and digital collections to find accurate and up-to-date information sources. - Public Education and Outreach
Providing educational resources, awareness programs, and exhibitions that promote the value and use of the nation’s archival and library materials.
